STAYING AT THE MOUNTAINS
Our sharing and teaching time in the group goes from Monday evening until Saturday morning.
If a student wishes to stay longer than one month, the group itself will decide the conditions of each case and will discuss personally the possibilities with the student.
We recommend that all the students who wish to come and practice within the group, come with an open heart and with a mind empty of ideas or methods as this will ensure the maximum benefit of this experience.
LOCATION
From Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, there are a few ways to reach our community:
The easiest way will be to fly directly from the Suvarnaphumi International Bangkok airport (BKK) to the Chiang Mai International airport (CNX) it will take about one hour.
The second option will be to go to Mo Chit Bangkok Northen bus station. From there buses leave to Chiang Mai every 30 minutes. To reach Chiang Mai will take around 9 hours.
The third option will be to go to Bangkok Hualumpong Central Train station and buy a train ticket to Chiang Mai, it will take around 12 hours.
Our place is located 60 km North from Chiang Mai city, about a 1000 meters above sea level in a beautiful and tranquil Lahu hilltribe village surrounded by tea and coffee plantations. Mild winters, warm summers and fresh air all year round, are some of the advantages of living in the hills . The multi diversity of wildlife and the topography of the terrain makes the area in many ways attractive for many outdoor activities.
To reach us you must take the highway 107 from Chiang Mai to Chiang Dao. Travel on the road 107 north until you reach 47 km (the km are marked along the left side of the highway, engraved into large stones). 15 meters before the 47 km stone you will take the small road on the left (soi 5) coming up into the mountain. Follow this road until you reach the Mu Ban Hoi Taad village (it is around 11 km away from the main road). In the middle of the village is a football playground next to a huge tree; take the small trekking path on the left for about 1.5 km into the jungle until you see us.
To reach the place you can:
Rent a motorbike from Chiang Mai city. You may also need a basic Chiang Mai road map (they give it for free in many tourist places) and follow the above directions.
Another option is to go to the local Chiang Mai Northern bus station called 'Satanee Rot Mae Chang Puak' that is located outside of the north gate of Chiang Mai city (please do not get confused with the Chiang Mai central bus station 'Arcade'). Catch a bus going to 'Mae Taeng' (a small northen city), you will get off the bus at the 'Talaat Mae Malai' (a famous local Market in the Mae Taeng city). From there we will pick you up at the front of the market. If you choose this option you must cover a 500 baht extra fee when we go to pick you up from the Mae Taeng market or when we bring you down from the mountain.
We recommend that you contact us, leaving enough time so we can arrange enough time to go and pick you up. You will recognize us easily, we normally wear white clothes and have short hair.
RECOMMENDED DONATION
The recommended donation for practicing at the community is 12.000 baht per month or 4000 baht per week.
The practice goes every week from Monday evening until Saturday morning.
At the village there is a local guest house owned by the locals that rents rooms and serves thai food at very reasonable price.
The students are responsible for their own accommodation and for their own food. When the student arrives in the community, we will show him where is the guest house and the restaurant.
Students must reach the community by their own vehicle. If the student does not have vehicle, there will be a 500 baths extra charge for picking him up from the Mae Taeng market or bringing him down from the mountain.
